Short Interview: Nili Brosh

Reading Time: 1 min.
We interviewed one of the most talented upcoming talents in the music industry! Born in Israel, raised in Massachussetts, and educated at Berklee College of Music, virtuoso guitarist and instrumental solo artist Nili Brosh recently spent two years performing 10 shows a week in Las Vegas in the long-running Cirque du Soleil production Michael Jackson ONE.
How would you describe the evolution of your music through time, from your early professional steps to this moment?
I think the biggest things between my early stuff and now would be the growth of my melodicism and stylistic versatility. I still feel like all my music comes from the same place and intent, but over the years it's gotten easier for me to convey my ideas in the context I believe they were meant to be presented.
Where did the inspiration for this new record came from?
I was hearing a lot of music in my head that suggested different genres, and didn't want to compromise the direction the songs were clearly begging to go in. Even though it seemed like all the different ideas won't fit together on one record, I realized that every one of the genres has at least one thing in common with another. Then it hit me - string together the styles using commonalities that progress from one to the next - and the idea for this literal musical spectrum was born. Whichever song comes next will always have certain things in common with the one that preceded it.
What can people expect from "Spectrum"?
The unexpected, I hope! To me it's all music, but I know those familiar with my first two albums might be surprised at some of the new stylistic ideas in it. Other than that I'd say a lot of melody and a representation of what the guitar can offer in different situations.
