Interview with Alice Lane
Staff
Reading Time: 2 min.
Alice is a bassist, born in Lodi, Italy. She plays bass in the all-female alternative metal band Killin' Baudelaire. Previously she played with 2 other bands supporting big alternative acts (such as Extrema and Linea 77 to name a few).
At that time she had the chance to record with the English producer Russ Russell (Dimmu Borgir, Evile, Napalm Death and many more).
With her actual band, Killin' Baudelaire she has toured the Europe, the UK and played at some of the most famous festivals like Metal for Emergency 2019 (with Anthrax many more), Nova Rock 2018 (with The Prodigy, Avenged Sevenfold, Billy Idol, Marilyn Manson and more) and Idays 2017 (Linkin' Park, Blink 182, Sum 41 and more).
She has played also as session bassist for other metal bands and toured Russia opening for Frei Wild.
Alice takes her inspiration from alternative/nu metal bands like: Coal Chamber, Devildriver, Machine Head, Hatebreed, Trivium.
What band or artist has influenced your style of music?
This is a very tough question, because I can't really name only one band or one artist.
Let's say since I was a child, I've started listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers, their sound inspired my choice to start playing the electric bass, probably because Flea's sound is prevailing in all their tracks.
Year after year I got close to Metal music, starting from Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Hatebreed and many more... but always preferring alternative / groove metal.
At some point I remember I saw one woman playing bass on the tv, it was the video of "Loco" by Coal Chamber (live at Dynamo Festival) - her name was Rayna Foss-Rose and from that moment I knew I wanted to be like her.
What do you feel while you perform in a stage for a great crowd?
I'm aware of the fact I've atypical reactions, but this happens to me every timeâ¦
I never feel anxiety or nervous before getting on stage.
I think it's a nice sensation, because I enjoy that moment without bad feelings, feeling happy and excited of being there.
I don't think it's apathy, I just think my brain knows that I'm in the right place at the right time.
Which bands do you listen the most in your free time?
Lately I've been listening to:
Leprous, Megadeth, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Journey... as you can notice I listen to various genres, it depends on how I feel, every day is different.
