The Greatest Guitarists Series: Carlos Santana
Staff
Reading Time: 0 min.
Carlos Santana is probably one of the only 60's era guitarists that can still place new material in mainstream top charts. He started the band Santana in 1966 and since that date, he has sold more than 90 million albums.
Santana has reinvented himself several times according to the current musical moments but he has always conserved his trademark style. With just a couple of notes, it is easy to identify Santana's playing. He sure has evolved with the years, but his style consistency creates a trace through time.
It would be hard to make the connection between a song like "Soul Sacrifice" that was played in Woodstock 69, "Smooth" featuring Rob Thomas in 1999 and "Breaking Down The Door ft. Buika" in 2019. Three different styles but connected through music line that Santana is well known for.
Santana is also appraised by the music community for his work in albums such as "Caravanserai", a true masterpiece that will set you up in a psychedelic rock, latin fusion ambience.
Besides the ulta-famous album "Supernatural", where he did collaborations with multiple artists, his interpretation of "Black Magic Woman" is probably his most famous song.
