The Greatest Guitarists Series: David Gilmour
David Gilmour is the inspiration of many musicians, me included. He is one of the very few guitarists with such a unique tone and style that can be easily identified just by the sound of his guitar.

David developed fame and a strong following by being part of the worldwide known band Pink Floyd. His music is highly expressive, strong at some moments and subtle ar others. His legendary guitar solos carry intense emotional energy and dynamics.

Before going into detail on his guitar solos, we have to mention David's huge mastery of the guitar on its complete range. Creating iconic sounds from tweaking the electrical and mechanical components of his rig. An example of this would be the "Seagull" from "Echoes".

David has many iconic guitar solos, "Shine on You Crazy Diamond", "Time", "Sorrow", "Another Brick in The Wall"... but in my opinion "Comfortably Numb" would be his most iconic and defining guitar solo.

The tone created by his guitar, his electronics, and his fingers combine in a majestic guitar solo with the perfect mix of melody and "crunch".
